IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
At 1factory, we remain dedicated to enhancing our platform to provide greater accuracy and reliability for your business. As part of this commitment, we’ve implemented two key changes outlined below.
- Part Master Creation: To streamline future enhancements to the Part Master (PLM/PDM), we have removed the "Create Part Masters on The Fly" setting. Now, a Part Master will need to be active before you can create related objects like Plans, NCRs, Complaints, CAPAs, or PPAPs.
- Version Control for Plans: Version Control is now enabled for all customers. If you already have Version Controlled Plans, your current setup will remain unchanged.
To assist you in navigating these updates, we’ve provided a summary of the key changes below.
Part Master Requirement As 1factory continues to enhance the Part Master functionality within the system, we have removed the setting "Create Part Masters on The Fly." Although adding Part Masters at the object level, such as for NCRs, was convenient, it led to several issues. For example, if a typo occurred while entering an NCR—such as a missing number or incorrect revision—the NCR could be created with incorrect details.
Should a Part Master not exist at the time of creation, a direct link to the Part Master list has been added to each object that requires a Part Master (Plans, NCRs, Complaints, CAPAs, and PPAPs). This allows users to easily access and select the appropriate Part Master.
In the Part Master list, click the New Part button and enter the details for the Part Master you wish to create in the slide-out form. Once you've filled out the information, click GO to complete the process. After creating the Part Master, click the "X" button to return to the screen where you were creating the object, such as the Manufacturing Plan.
Version ControlVersion Control enables users with Manage Plans Permissions to update manufacturing plans while maintaining the same drawing revision. Allowing the user to modify elements such as inspection methods or sampling frequencies based on part performance, all while preserving the historical context of previous versions.
To release a plan for inspections, go to the Manage Tab of the plan, switch the status from DRAFT to RELEASED, and then click SAVE.
Once a plan is released, it becomes read-only and cannot be edited. If you need to make changes to the active plan (excluding drawing revisions), go to the Manage Tab and change the status from RELEASED to DRAFT. The previous version will remain active until the latest version is released, at which point the previous revision will automatically become INACTIVE.
