The Quality Control Plan is a prerequisite for all activities in the 1Factory system. Use the quality control plan to list all the features you intend to control during production, along with the inspection method, inspection frequency and other important information.
The quality control plan lists the following:
- The balloon or spec number
- Features (e.g. Diameter, Opacity, Vitamin A etc)
- Characteristic Type - The type of nominal measurement and tolerances (e.g nom +/- tol, max - min)
- Specifications or acceptable levels (e.g. 1.500 +/- .005)
- Unit of Measure (e.g. inch, ppm, fringes etc)
- Places (e.g. 3x)
- Inspection Method (CMM, Caliper, Micrometer)
- Work Instructions or Notes
- Key or Critical identifier
- Sampling Rules: Frequency (e.g. inspect 1 in 10) or Sample Size (AQL 1.0)
- Data Type: Numeric [Variable Data] e.g. 1.457, or Pass / Fail [Attribute Data]
- Inspection Type (Setup, In Process, Final, etc.)
- Dimension Type: Design Dimension or Manufacturing Dimension
- Operation Number
Pro Tip: We recommend setting up the Quality Control Plan only once during First Article Inspection. This plan can then be re-used for all other types of inspections.
