Best Practices: Classifying Non-Conformances (NCRs, CAPAs, SCARs) for Easy Reporting

1factory offers multiple classification fields, which collectively help classify and organize non-conformance data. These fields include:

1. Detected At: Where was the problem found? e.g. At Supplier, in Receiving Inspection, in Assembly, or in Test
2. Caused by: Which work center caused the problem? What was the origin of the defect? e.g. Machining Work Center, Welding, Sub-Supplier.
3. Problem-Type: e.g. Missing Part, Incorrect Part, Out-of-Spec Feature, Functional Failure, Dead-on-Arrival etc.
4. Root-Cause: use the 5Ms and 1E to determine root-cause.
   1. Machine (equipment, technology)
   2. Method (process) e.g. Incorrect Set-Up
   3. Material (raw material)
   4. Man (human)
   5. Measurement (inspection)
   6. Environmental (e.g. humidity, temperature etc.)

Each of these fields is a drop-down list. These lists can be created and managed under the List of Values tab.

To access the List of Values tab:

1. Click on the down-arrow next to your name in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
2. Click on List of Values
3. From the drop-down menu, select the field name for which you want to edit or manage values
4. In the table, add the values and click on Save.
5. Click Cancel to return to the drop-down list of values menu.
