In this article, we will discuss how to set up an Assembly FAI and link the Component FAIs from the Bill of Materials.
Important Note: Enabling Assembly FAIs is a configurable setting that requires assistance from a 1factory representative. For Assembly FAIs to function correctly, you must also enable Version Control. If your organization is interested in this feature, please reach out to your 1factory representative or email support@1factory.com for further assistance.
In order to create an Assembly FAI, you must first have the information for the Components that are a part of the Assembly define within the Part Masters tile located in the Master Data tab.
Once this is complete, you can the create the Part Master for the Assembly.
Within the Part Master for the Assembly, set "Is Assembly" to "Yes".
Next, click on the BOM tab to complete the Bill of Materials.
Click on to add components to the Assembly. Select the Part Master Number for the component, and the Quantity needed. Continue adding the Components until all requirements are accounted for.
Create Manufacturing or Receiving Plans as you normally would, and then create and complete your Component level FAIs. When creating the Assembly level FAI, you will find the Components listed in section 15 & 16 of page 1 of the FAI. you will then be able to select the Part Type (17.) and FAIR Identifier (18.) associated with the Component level FAIs that were completed.
Upon selecting the AS9102 Package option under the Reports tab, 1factory will export a zipped file containing the FAI packages for the Assembly FAI as well as all of the associated Components.
