1.0 Part Masters on the Fly
We are happy to announce the return of an improved Part Master on the Fly setting. This optional setting allows you to quickly create part masters directly within your workflow, making it easier than ever to create New Plans.
To activate this setting, simply navigate to your organization’s Plan settings and set Create Part Master on the Fly to Yes.
After saving your settings, you can now create Manufacturing or Receiving Plans as usual, but with an enhanced experience. In the refined plan slide-out, you have the flexibility to either select from an existing list of Part Masters or create a new Part Master on the fly by filling in the Part Number and Revision fields, as illustrated below. Once you click Go, a Part Master is automatically created, allowing you to seamlessly continue developing your Plan.
2.0 Enhanced Up-versioning for Plans & Inspections
After many insightful conversations with our customers, we discovered that the Version of a Plan is often in flux during the initial development phase of the Parts Plan within 1factory. To streamline this iterative process between the user creating the plan and the user performing the inspection, we've introduced a new Usage Tab within the Parts Plan.
Clicking on the Usage Tab opens a slide-out that lists all inspections initially created against a previous Plan Version and still in Pending status. From here, the plan creator can automatically Up-version all inspections with a single click by selecting the UPVER INSPECTIONS button, as shown below.
Once the inspections have been Up-versioned to the latest Plan Version, the Usage Tab will appear as shown below.
This new feature serves as an additional tool to the current UPVER button found directly on the inspection. If you wish to update inspections individually, we recommend using the Up-version button located in the left-hand sidebar of the inspection, as shown below.
3.0 Expanded Spec Library Capabilities
For customers utilizing the Spec Library capabilities within 1factory, we are pleased to announce support for Tabulated Spec Libraries as well as the highly requested feature of Automatic Up-versioning. Now, all plans using a specific Spec Library can be up-versioned automatically, streamlining your update process.
To support this change, Spec Libraries now reside under the Plans tile. You can identify your Spec Libraries by using the Spec Library filter in the List of Plans, as shown below.
3.1 Tabulated Spec Libraries
To support tabulations in Spec Libraries, each Spec Library will now be associated with a Part Master. To create a Spec Library, simply navigate to the Part Master list, click New Part, and fill out the necessary information in the slide-out. Once completed, select Yes for both Is Tabulated and Is Spec Library.
From here, follow the same steps you would use to create a Tabulated Plan within the Part Master. For more details on creating a Tabulated Plan, please refer to the help document HERE.
3.2 Automatic Up-versioning
Many of you have shared feedback regarding the challenge of updating Plans after a Spec Library associated with them has been modified. To help ease this burden, we’ve introduced a new UPVERSION PLANS button located in the Usage Tab of each Spec Library. By clicking this button, all Plans that are not current on the Usage Tab will automatically receive the latest version of the Spec Library imported into the associated Plans.
After you click on the Up-version Plans button, the Plans that have had the new version of the Spec Library automatically imported will appear at the top of the list of Plans in the Draft state. From there, the user can review and release the Plans accordingly.
4.0 Cloning Part Masters
There has been a longstanding request for the ability to clone or create a new revision of a Part Master more efficiently. Today, we are excited to announce that you can now clone a Part Master in the same manner you would clone a Plan.
To clone a Part Master, click the New Part button in the Part Master List and fill out the slide-out form as shown below. For example, if you select a Part Master with Revision "A" and want to create Revision "B," simply click Go. This will create the Revision "B" Part Master, carrying over all associated information, including the BOM and Table of Size details for a Tabulated Part Master.
