1. Creating a QC Plan:We've changed how specifications or balloons are added to QC Plans. In the new design, you must first select a "characteristic type" from a list of values.
Your "Characteristic Type" selection tells the system what type of characteristic to expect, and displays the appropriate fields.
From Scratch:If you are manually adding a specification, you must select a characteristic type as shown below:
E.g. Setting
Characteristic Type to GD&T results in these fields being displayed:
E.g. Setting
Characteristic Type to Note results in these fields being displayed:
From PDF Drawing:-- If you are adding a specification from a drawing, and if the system correctly reads the drawing, the system will automatically select the right Characteristic Type.
-- However, in some cases, where the system cannot read the drawing fully, you will need to select a characteristic type as shown below:
2. Entering Nom +/+ and Nom -/- Tolerances:As you may have noticed in the Characteristic Type above, we have added support for Nom +/+ and Nom -/- Tolerances.
-- For example, a shaft and it's mating hole may have the following tolerances:
Shaft Dimension: 50 -0.02 -0.07 [Nom -Tol -Tol]
Hole Dimension: 50 +0.10 +0.05 [Nom +Tol +Tol]
Note: The
order of data entry here is important. You must enter the Upper Tolerance first, followed by the Lower Tolerance.
3. Inspection Method and Sampling Rule by Inspection TypeMany of you have requested for the ability to vary inspection method and sampling rule by Inspection Type.
-- For example, a linear dimension may be checked at the machine (WIP) with a caliper and with a sampling rule of 1 in 10 parts.
-- The same dimension may be checked in the lab (Final) with a CMM and on 100% of the parts.
Here's what that would look like in the system:
If you do not need to vary inspection method and sampling by inspection type, simply use the Default Inspection Method and Sampling Rule fields.
3. Surface Profile:Surface Profile can now be set up in the QC Plan in one of three ways:
1. The entire tolerance outside material e.g. +0.005
2. The entire tolerance inside material e.g. -0.005
3. Part of the tolerance inside and part of the tolerance outside material e.g. +0.0025 -0.0025
4. Automated Scaling Run-Chart Y-Axis:-- In the old design, the Y-axis of the run chart had a fixed scale. Any out-of-spec values would be shown as red squares at the upper or lower ends of the charts.
-- In the new design, the Y-axis of the run chart will be automatically scaled to show the out-of-spec values.
5. Automated Data Sharing:Where data sharing with the customer is mandatory, we've made data sharing automatic. Now, when an inspection is first created, it is automatically shared with the customer (buyer) listed on the QC Plan for that inspection.
[Note: For manual and automated data sharing to work, you must enter the customer name in the QC Plan.]
6. CMM Import - Error Message Improvements:In this release, we've improved how CMM import errors are displayed. In the new design, all errors are displayed at once.
-- Most errors will be caused because of a mismatch between the plan and inspection. Specifically, you'll see an error if the CMM file has data for more places than the QC Plan.
-- For example, feature 8 may have two readings in the CMM file, but has places=1 in the QC Plan. You'll need to update the QC plan and make the number of places 2.
7. New CMM Types Added:We have added import capability for the following CMMs:
-- Aberlink
-- Open DMIS
-- Rational DMIS
