Non-Conformance (NCR) & CAPA Re-Design.
On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, we will deploy a major upgrade to the NCR functionality. Over the last year, we've received nearly 50 improvement recommendations from our customers, and we've done our best to accommodate most of these recommendations in this release. Here are some of the key improvements:
1. NCR Type: You can now create Non-Conformances of the following types:
- Manufacturing Issue
- Receiving or Incoming Quality Issue
- Customer Complaint
- Field Failure
2. NCR Identifiers: NCRs can now be identified using some or all of the following identifiers at the batch level:
- Manufacturing: Work Order, Job, Production Order, Batch, Lot,
- Receiving: Purchase Order, Line Number
- Sales: Sales Orders, Customer Purchase Order Numbers
In addition, NCRs can be identified using part level identifiers such as Serial Numbers, and Date Codes
Note: These Identifiers must be configured under "Settings"
3. Classification: 1factory now supports multiple classifications within the same NCRs. You can now have up to 5 rows of Problem Codes, Root-Cause, and Caused-By classifications. For example, the NCR below had two rivet issues:
4. Cost of Quality: In addition to improved classification, you can now setup cost categories, and start tracking the total cost of quality for each Non-Conformance.
Note: The Cost Categories must be set-up under List of Values and will be fixed for all NCRs.
5. Basic View vs. Classification View: Nearly every one of you has asked for additional NCR information on the List of NCRs page. In order to accommodate all the different field requests, we've created two views: the Basic View, and the Classification View.
- Basic View: Basic Part, Supplier and Customer information, along with Created By, Created On, and Status
- Classification View: Basic Part information along with detailed classification
6. Business Impact: All NCRs now include a new classification field for "business impact" (e.g. High, Medium, Low). Use this field to communicate the importance of a problem. 7. Updated Excel Download: The download NCR feature has been updated to include all the new fields.
8. New NCR Charts: We have added new NCR Charts by Customer, by Supplier, by Part Number, and by MRB Disposition. These are in addition to the existing NCR Charts by Problem Type, Root Cause, etc.
9. Layout Changes: We have a redesigned Facts tab, MRB activities are now on their own separate tab, and Classification and Cost of Quality are grouped together under the "Classification" tab.
10. Reminder Emails: The system will send out automated reminder emails at 12:00 am Monday morning GMT for the following:
Note: You can activate or deactivate these emails for your organization under Settings.
11. Auto-Save: We have added Auto-Save functionality as you navigate between the tabs of an NCR. In addition, if you leave an NCR without saving changes, the system will warn you, and ask if you would like to save changes.
12. History: Improved history capability now captures the addition of tasks, as well as the editing of any field in the NCR. It also captures the closing, re-opening, and re-closing of NCRs.
13. Long Text Problems with Reports: We have addressed an open issue with very long text not fitting in the excel report. The field size has been increased to accommodate 10x the amount of text.
14. CAPA Team Changes: We have also made a change to how Teams are set up in CAPAs. Teams are now set up using a table. Note: the "Job Title" comes from the Users profile in 1factory, but you must select the CAPA role (Owner, Team Member, Notification Only)
